The Belvaux School and Sports Campus project supports the development of an existing school whose capacity must be expanded to meet the growing needs of the municipality.

The programme includes thirteen new primary school classrooms, four rooms for the Education and Care Service (SEA), the school administration offices, a movement room, a school cafeteria, a teaching swimming pool with a 12.5 × 25 metre pool, a three-court sports hall, and all associated outdoor facilities.

The project’s ambition is to gradually transform a collection of existing facilities into a true educational, sports and landscape campus. The new buildings and infrastructure are conceived as shared resources that strengthen the synergies between learning, sports, catering and community life.

The architecture is based on a modular timber structure that combines flexibility, adaptability and high-quality user experience. Timber, widely exposed throughout the interior spaces, is complemented by bio-based materials such as raw earth, straw and natural insulation in order to reduce the project’s environmental footprint while creating a warm, healthy and welcoming environment.

The outdoor spaces play a central role in the organisation of the campus. They connect the various programmes, encourage active mobility and provide places for outdoor activities, social interaction and relaxation.

Designed according to the principles of the circular economy, the project prioritises renewable materials, reversible construction systems and adaptable buildings. Passive comfort strategies, combined with a centralised heat pump, a large-scale photovoltaic installation and an integrated rainwater management system, contribute to a significant and long-term reduction in resource consumption.

The Belvaux School and Sports Campus therefore offers a sustainable, adaptable and exemplary environment for learning, sports and community life, designed to serve future generations.
